it’s so damn hard to get photos in this gallery, and this just totally made my saturday!
i had long-ass discussions with my fellow photographer friends on what would be the perfect bag to protect your gear… and really, there was no way i could see the discussion ending. we talked about designs, functionality, price tags, looks, where to buy, how many to buy, and after all that we couldn’t come up with one perfect bag that will solve all your problems.
i really think it’s by personal choice that will be the breaking point, but if you really think about it, there is no perfect bag. yep. there’s no perfect one bag.
any serious lens man will have more than one bag… one for day trips, one for loading all the gear, one for packing lite, one for this and one for that… it is also accurate to say that any serious lens man will be willing to spend a small fortune on bags. personally, my closet is home to 4 camera bags and 3 DJ bags (which is another story all together) and i still find myself going online researching on the next bag i want or need.
my girlfriend bought me the flipside 200 by lowepro for my birthday, and i love the bag to bits… it is my travel bag, but it’s not the bag i use all the time. i use the slingshot more, but it doesn’t mean i like it more than the flipside. i also have the 5million dollar home by crumpler, and it pretty much has gone through a lot with me.. it’s been with me to the US and the UK - but i dont consider it to be my travel bag. weird huh?
to try and answer the questions of many here are some catergories and suggestions that might help you choose your next bag.
hope this helps:

I’m a fan of crumpler and lowepro… i really think you get your money’s worth with those brands.
just keep in mind that there are too many designs and manufacturers out there… know what ya want, and do a little research you’ll be fine. plus actually seeing the bag and trying it out helps a lot!so there you go. good luck

Beatles Ringo Starr and George Harrison (yep, that’s George playing with his Pentax SLR )
photo by Morrie Hill June 1964
With a little surfin about Pentax, I stumbled upon this photo… I’m guessing George was tinkering with an early Spotmatic, it kind of looks like my grandfather’s 1967 Spotmatic (+ Supertak lenses). I still have that spotmatic to this day, and I bought a k mount converter so I could use my super taks on my K10D. When I shoot with the super taks, I really think they can compete or are even sharper with today’s lenses. Hear this: Not even Canon or Nikon can compete with Pentax Prime Glass. Nuff said.
this one is for someone really special. i’m really hoping this 2 weeks passby quickly. for the meantime, i’ll leave you with our favorite Juliana song.
I miss you, buchogs!
